Our Brides

A True Charleston Beauty

Ashlee just couldn’t decide on one Modern Trousseau dress — so she wore two! Our Charleston bride wore a custom ‘Daphne’ short wedding dress style created in the ‘Hope’ cotton lace for her engagement photos, and the elegant ‘Finnley’ in ivory lace over blush silk for her walk down the aisle. We simply adore both looks, and couldn’t wait to share her elegant bridal portraits by Evan Laettner Photography.

We took a moment to speak with our southern bride about her wedding details — featuring great locations in and around Charleston — and this is what she had to share:

Wedding Date: 12/28/13

Ceremony Location: Mt Pleasant Presbyterian Church

Reception Location: Carolina Yacht Club

MT: How did you two meet?
Ashlee: At Poes Tavern on Sullivans Island Memorial Day weekend

MT: Why did you choose Modern Trousseau?
Ashlee: I wanted the ability to customize my wedding dress, and fell in love with the design and quality of Modern Trousseau’s lace and silk, as well as their top-notch construction.

MT: How did your husband propose?
Ashlee: He popped the question at Moise Island during Memorial Day weekend. It was exactly one year after we met, and he waited until the sun was going down, and a full moon was rising.

MT: What was your first dance song?
Ashlee: You Are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne.

MT: How did you feel in your finished gown?
Ashlee: Like a model and a princess rolled into one!

MT: What were your bridal colors?
Ashlee: Antique Rose and Ivory.

MT: Did you change into a different dress for the reception?
Ashlee: No. I didn’t want to take my fabulous dress off! My feather stole and lace-edged veil were all I needed to change-up my wedding day look for the aisle and after party.

MT: What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Ashlee: Walking down the aisle with my Dad, wearing my amazing veil (by Modern Trousseau), and seeing my future husband at the altar waiting for me.

‘The Bachelorette’ as ‘The Bride’

Emily Maynard Weds!

People Magazine - June 3, 2014 - Modern Trousseau real bride fea
“She may be a girlie girl, but for her nuptials to 28-year-old management consultant Tyler Johnson, Emily Maynard, also 28, showcased her country roots with ‘rustic glam’ touches from the menu (fried okra) to the cowboy boots under her custom Modern Trousseau gown.”We had to keep it a secret, but when Heather of Hayden Olivia Bridal in Charlotte, NC called to tell us the news, we were ecstatic. The former Bachelorette star wore a custom, soft-pink gown with ‘Eden’ lace bodice and romantic, tulle skirt. Emily’s daughter, Ricki, who served as Maid-of-Honor also wore a custom Modern Trousseau dress modeled on our fresh and fun ‘Teacup’ style with a re-embroidered lace bodice and layered organza skirt. The pair simply stole our hearts.

“The wedding was a surprise to guests, who were told they were attending an engagement party. ‘I feel like I’m in a dream I’ll never wake up from,’ said Maynard.”

We think her entire wedding day look was dreamy — as well as her handsome groom! Best wishes to the new family. We hope the fairy tale lasts a lifetime!

Stay tuned for more photos from Emily’s amazing, southern-chic wedding. Images courtesy of Corbin Gurkin for People Magazine.

Our bride, Amelia wears ‘Julia’

Amelia was such a wonderful bride to work with, so we were all excited when we discovered she had sent us the latest photos from her Charleston wedding. She wore a custom Julia gown in exquisite French lace with a natural waist, full skirt, and sweep train. Prior to putting Amelia’s custom changes into fabric, we created a muslin of her design to make sure the design and fit were executed to perfection.

Along with her bridal portraits, the bride sent along this heartfelt thank-you note to Modern Trousseau designer, Callie Tein:

Amelia bridal portraitsI purchased a wedding gown from Jen for my May 17th wedding, and just wanted to let you know that both my mom and I were absolutely thrilled with the entire experience. Modern Trousseau designs are beautiful, and if I ever have the opportunity to wear one of your dresses again I will jump at the chance (I particularly want the Nila lace gown in navy!) My dress made my wedding day perfect, and the purchasing experience was by far the most enjoyable part of the planning process.

I know that the wonderful experience we had was due to the wonderful, friendly, knowledgable and approachable service we received from Jen. From our first appointment she made my mom and I feel at home and taken care of. We are always looking for local businesses where the quality of service is just as wonderful as the product they offer, and Modern Trousseau Charleston proved to be exemplary. Modern Trousseau Charleston is now the first place I recommend when friends ask about wedding vendors!

The Julia dress was equally amazing!  It was exactly what I was looking for, and I couldn’t have been more pleased or felt more beautiful.  And thank you SO much for your willingness to work [my custom design] in muslin first. I knew I wanted inset sleeves, and trying on the muslin put my mind at ease!

Another big reason my mom and I have become such huge fans of Modern Trousseau Charleston is because [every gown] is sewn in the United States. Thanks so much for your commitment in this economy, and providing quality jobs in our country!

Mail like this reminds us why we love making bridal dreams come true! Congratulations Amelia and Mark! We wish you both lots of love and joy as you begin your lives together.

The dress was absolutely amazinggggg!!!!

Meaghan and Jordan's Charleston Wedding

The title of this post is a direct quote from our Low Country bride, Meaghan, who married Jordan on May 1st in Charleston. Meaghan looked like she stepped right out of the pages of a couture bridal magazine wearing Modern Trousseau’s ‘India’ lace bridal gown, complete with romantic, chapel-length veil.

‘India’ features a delicately-patterned ivory lace, fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, A-line skirt, and beaded sash for an overall effect that looks amazing coming and going. As Meaghan walked down the aisle, attendees admired the gown’s dramatic, pleated tulle back and chapel train. Following the ceremony, the couple was congratulated with cheers, applause, and a cloud of bubbles — resulting in our favorite (and the bride’s) photo from the day!

Our bride, Caroline wears ‘Jessica’

We couldn’t think of a better photo gallery to celebrate Spring than these festive images of our real bride, Caroline, wearing the ‘Jessica‘ lace wedding gown for her Charleston wedding. Whether in black and white, or full-color, the bride was all smiles in her custom, keyhole back gown that she purchased from Modern  Trousseau Charleston.

Along with the images, Caroline sent along the following thank-you message in her email:

“Hope all is well with you! I am sure ya’ll are super busy in the midst of wedding season, and I hope it’s going well! Just wanted to send you the link to the pictures from our wedding. Crisp & Classic in Lauren Lace

Modern Trousseau Charleston - skirt! magazine - February 2013If you happened to pick up the February issue of skirt! magazine, you will already be familiar with our gorgeous Charleston bride, Ali. Photographer Paige Winn said that Ali and Daniel’s wedding was the kind of event you might see featured in a style magazine, and we couldn’t agree more.

The couple married in October 2012 on the grounds of Lowndes Grove. The bride wore a custom ‘Lauren’ gown by Modern Trousseau Charleston, and kept her makeup and accessories simple and classic. Bridesmaids wore long gowns in a neutral, oyster hue, with bright poppy, rose, and anemone bouquets, and the groomsmen kept up the classic theme in navy suits and ties.

The waterfront property of Lowndes Grove provided the perfect backdrop for this couple’s outdoor ceremony and reception, and the evening sky added the necessary star light for the dance floor. Along with the amazing chuppah designed by Charleston Stems, the bride and groom honored the Jewish wedding tradition of tzedakah, or giving aid to the needy, by raising money to build a library in India via Room to Read. In lieu of a gift, guests donated more than $5,000 to construct a new facility. Such an enduring, romantic gift to celebrate the marriage of two people in love!

Goodbye 2012!

Modern Trousseau Charleston - skirt! magazine - January 2013
Pick up the latest issue of Charleston’s skirt! magazine for our newest ad featuring real bride, Brooke, blowing a kiss goodbye to 2012. Brooke is wearing the ‘Lauren’ gown by Modern Trousseau that features French alençon lace gorgeously styled with a deep, V-neckline in the front and back. This gown’s fit-to-flare silhouette is complimented by pleated tulle godets and chantilly lace edging, as well as a lovely sweep train.

Brooke married her soul mate, Dan, last November on the beach at Secrets, Maroma Beach Riviera Maya. Her vows were blessed by an amazing sunset and the warm wishes of her friends and family, and the celebration continued with champagne and dancing under the stars.

The bride’s ‘Lauren’ gown fit her perfectly, and she added a touch of color with a blush silk sash at the waist that matched the sweet neckties of her groomsmen. We were thrilled to see the final, head-to-toe look, and love how radiant and confident she appears in her wedding dress.

Brooke wrote, “I was in love with my gown and didn’t want to get out of it! This gown made me feel so beautiful, and I was so pleased with how easy it was to dance in!”

High Style for a Low Country Bride

Prepare to gush over these photos from Laura’s Low Country wedding at Lowndes Grove Plantation — always a fabulous spot for weddings and photo ops. Laura wore a custom ‘Riley’ lace gown by Modern Trousseau with detachable lace straps which looked so elegant for the ceremony, and also allowed the bride to stay cool for the fun-filled reception. The fingertip lace veil was custom made to match Laura’s gown and truly transformed her into a glowing bride.

The ‘Riley’ gown is made in French alençon lace tiered in scalloped layers over silk duchess in an elegant, modified A-line silhouette. The waist is tied with a sensational ribbon and lace sash.

Laura is a beautiful model for this style, and we love how she personalized the look with a southern girl’s must haves: a pair of fabulous cowboy boots. We wish the bride and groom many happy days, and thank them both for sharing these photos from the big day.

Southern Style for this Northern Bride

Shay recently sent us these photos from her wedding day in Charleston. Although originally from Connecticut and currently working in Pittsburgh, the couple chose the groom’s southern roots for a stylish, sun-drenched wedding. Shay looks absolutely stunning in Modern Trousseau’s ‘Cara’ gown with an embellished sash — and we adore her groom’s polka-dot bow tie! Click on each photo for a larger view…

Congratulations Shay!

Beauty’s Warm Glow

Congratulations Ginny! Our gorgeous bride was married this past October, and used the rich, seasonal colors of Charleston as a backdrop to the golden hues of her wedding. Ginny chose Modern Trousseau’s fit-to-flare ‘Autumn’, and customized it to her taste by choosing to have the lace run to the edge of the bodice in a complexion-flattering ivory, along with a beaded sash at the natural waist.

The final look was a perfect match to the high-style, vintage vibe of The William Aiken House reception. The photographer’s use of natural light and the fabulous locations made Ginny look like she could have stepped out of one of the estate’s grand, oil portraits. From her delicate, lace veil, down to her silk, Manolo Blahnik heels, this Charleston bride was a masterpiece!

Custom Sophistication

We are all swooning over these photos sent in by our bride, Geneva. This Charleston beauty wore Modern Trousseau’s ‘Monroe’ lace gown with a custom lace bolero and bridal sash. Geneva told us the dress was “a big hit and [she] loved wearing it.”

…And we loved having her as a client! Charleston’s bridal showroom manager had a fantastic time working with Geneva, and was thrilled that the bride always had fun friends shopping with her. The bridal bolero was chosen later in the design process of the gown, and the final look is sweet sophistication with a fabulous fit.

This Lowcountry bride and her new husband, Luke, married May 1st at Oldfield Plantation near Hilton Head, SC. Her wedding style featured lemon-hued jewelry, along with a backdrop of bridesmaids dressed in soft, watercolor aqua — perfect for a spring ceremony.

Modern Trousseau’s ‘Monroe’ gown features a 1960′s reproduction lace in a charming daisy motif. This sweetly seductive gown also has a fit-to-flare silhouette and sweetheart neckline delicately edged in scalloped lace. This style is available in diamond white, ivory, ivory lace over latte, and ivory lace over blush. Give us a call to learn more. Geneva’s coordinating sash was purchased from an online retailer, and Modern Trousseau customized the final design in-house.

All our brides walk down the aisle looking beautiful; however, we can’t take all the credit. True beauty lies not simply in what one wears, but in the warm glow of love that radiates from the faces of husband and wife. Congratulations Geneva and Luke! We wish you both many years of joy and continued love.

Our first bride!

Our very first client at our Charleston showroom recently sent in these photos from her 2012 wedding wearing Modern Trousseau’s ‘Camille’ lace gown. We couldn’t think a more perfect start to our collection of Charleston real bride photos, and are overjoyed that Lindsey is our first lovely bride.

Lindsey shared these photos from her big day along with the following note:

“I was lucky enough to be looking for a dress not long after you opened your Charleston store. Heather was amazing and I found the perfect dress! I was so in love with it, and have received so many compliments. I have several friends just engaged, and I am sending them all to your Charleston store! After searching in five different high-end Charleston bridal boutiques, I found that you have, by far, the most beautiful lace gowns I have ever seen.

Aside from offering my thanks and appreciation, I wanted to reach out to see if I should send my photos to anyone at Modern Trousseau. I know you show real brides on your website and since I am in the PR/ Marketing industry, I understand the value of a happy customer.

I can’t thank you enough for giving me the perfect dress for our big day!”

Congratulations Lindsey! We wish you and your new husband many happy and healthy years together.
