our Kennedy gown is gracing the cover of the newest edition of Inside Weddings Fall 2011 edition.
Have you ever wondered why so many gowns are sampled strapless? Perhaps this will help explain! When you come across a gorgeous gown that has a key hole back, lace or fabric high at the back of the neck, a unique neckline, substantial straps, cap sleeves or full length sleeves, often the gown has been custom made specifically for the bride, often called a “build up.” The gown most likely started as a strapless style. Gowns that are non-strapless samples tend to damage easily for trying on, they often only fit a small percentage of brides correctly…therefore, maybe this is why there are so many strapless options! Don’t fret, Modern Trousseau is happy to custom design a neckline of your choice and we do this often! Here is an example of our Mimi gown build up with sleeves. Stunning…right?

We were hoping that Kate Middleton, now married to Prince William, would choose lace. Her long sleeves and scalloped neckline has begun a gorgeous trend that is just what Modern Trousseau is known for…gorgeous lace gowns in all difference shilouttes and and necklines. Kennedy is from our newest collection and others like Jessica and Lauren are sure to impress!
Modern and traditional…Princess Kate achieved both as she walked the aisle this morning. Thinking of incorporating some of her grand details into your gown? If details such as cap sleeves, long sleeves, full skirts, lace veil and buttons down the bodice excite you then Modern Trousseau can help you achieve a bit of Kate’s look.
If you are thinking of going short for your big day, we have stunning options for you! Here is a sneak peek of the few that went down the runway at Charleston Weddings Spring Bridal Show. Modern Trousseau is sure to stun all of us with new short options for the Spring 2012 collection launching this weekend at the New York Bridal Market in NYC. Check back often to see new styles.

If you attended the Charleston Weddings Magazine Spring Fashion Show, you might remember a theme of black throughout the show. Bella Bridesmaid sent charcoal grey and deep slate maids dresses down the runway and Carol Hannah flaunted a finale gown made of black tulle. Modern Trousseau was noted and praised for bold black sunglasses and the stunning Wallis gown with necklace made by Kristin Morris and belt made by Modern Trousseau. A bold statement…very beautiful!

Modern Trousseau put on a dazzling show at this year’s Spring Bridal Show. Callie Tein sent 20 original looks down the runway donned in Holly Golightly style, complete with dark sunglasses and sparkling tiaras.
Long and slimming, short and sassy, and entrance-making tulle ballgown styles all were represented. Designer Callie Tein’s focus for 2011 was all about luxury, and it certainly shows—from the silks and laces she hand-picked and designed, to the fine furs of the boleros, to the delicate beading of the custom bridal sashes. This collection was a crowd favorite, and finished with enthusiastic applause in time to the fun and flirty music. We’re still waiting for the official event video, but you can get a peak at the Modern Trousseau final runway walk on YouTube:
Thanks to all the models who suffered endless pin pricks, makeup fixes, and hairspray, as well as the fantastic hair and makeup professionals who conjured up 20 Audreys. We would also like to thank Justine M Couture and Kristin Morris who both provided the phenomenal jewelry and hair accessories that brought this vintage look together, as well as SEE eyewear for the fabulous sunglasses.
Beautiful work Callie & Heather — & America’s youngest designer, Maddie Tein!
